Readers of visual novelsGood developers try to please the reader. But even with this position, they do not always guess what the reader needs. The developer is one, there are many readers and they have many opinions. I'm collecting some of them here.

  • Why so many VN projects seem to take forever or why some get abandoned halfway, here’s a breakdown of the most common issues, and a few ways to avoid them: 1. Lack of a Solid Plan... I recommend reading for aspiring developers.
  • It’s a widespread issue in the industry—games from small teams, end up with flaws simply because one person cannot possibly master every aspect of the game. It’s rare to find someone who excels in all areas, but that's where a team comes in. Just like in film and other video games, the best results come from having experts in each area working together. Many developers face a plateau when they start making money but struggle to take the next step—hiring people and growing the team. It’s a difficult decision because it feels like a step backward, but in the long run, this growth is essential for the project’s quality and potential to increase tenfold. Read topic.
  • Do you prefer a modest or lecherous protagonist in a novella. Readers responded.
  • The developers made an ascetic game interface, and players didn't like it. What features of the interface of games and novels do readers like?
  • The erotic dream is a controversial decision to add sex scenes to a novella. Read Why So.
  • If you want to add something beside the story, then consider character profiles. It's nice to have a card or page showing the informations about the characters in the story. Like name, age, birthplace, favorite food, relation with the main protagonist and/or the other characters. Also a picture or picture gallery is nice. The gallery could consist of pictures which have to be unlocked during the story. Most people love collecting stuff in games, so if they can unlock photos of their favorite characters most will try to get them all. Source.
  • I used to work in an eroge company, this one time we did a survey and found out most players actually wanted better writing, world building, characters, it was a surprise for all of us but judging previous top games like fate or dies irae it makes a lot of sense, at least for this specific market a lot of people only want erotic scenes when and were they make sense. Source.

VN "Family Affair"

  • It (sex) is also going really fast. Some of us like stories to go a little slower.
The good parts is that the women all have a different look and they are all pretty in their own way. I like having a few older women in the story.
  • I get the desire to cater to those who pay, but a story built-by-committee usually ends up as disjointed and incoherent as you try to appease too many different people with varied tastes. Tell the story that you want to tell, with the content you want to have. Patrons who like what you're producing will come.
  • If I'm interested in games is because it follows the mc & the girls, not to see every other character fucking someone else.
  • There is not a real story, just a collection of disjointed sex scenes without any sense. Characters doesn´t behave as real people at all.
  • My advice for the dev: knowing how to make amazing 3D models doesn´t mean knowing to create a game. You need to know how to write a story a create credible characters that talk and behave as people.
  • I would like to see are more sexshots and more angles so as a hint just use the same pose and rotate the came around for diffrent angles and render that out so you get more shots out of one pose that still saves time for more content and makes sex scenes longer and diffrent people prefer diffrent body parts so dont focus too much on ass just gives every body part their angle shot if possible.
